We'd like to thank all of the FFA Members who stopped by Fair Oaks Farms on their way to (and from, or to AND from) the National Convention in Indianapolis last week. All in all, we had over 5,000 FFA members on site to see, hear, taste and experience our dairy! 5,000! Can you believe it?!

We're glad to have had a chance to host so many of the future stewards of American agriculture, and look forward to seeing you all next year.

Last night, Fair Oaks Farms was presented with the 2009 Chanute Prize for Team Innovation by the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana.

The honor was given out at the Fifth Annual Northwest Indiana Innovation Awards Induction at Horseshoe Casino Hammond. Selection is based upon nominees meeting the Society's criteria for individual and project team innovations. This consists of an individual or team introducing new and different ideas that are implemented and benefit the quality of Life of Northwest Indiana.

"We are celebrating 35 individuals and teams that are making a difference through innovation in the region, state and world," said J. Guadalupe Valtierra, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Northwest.

It's an honor to be nominated for and receive this award, and we look forward to continuing to provide Northwest Indiana with a business and organization that we can all be proud of!

Next week marks the beginning of the 2009 FFA Convention in Indianapolis and Fair Oaks Farms is proud to host many of these industrious young future farmers as they make their way to and from the convention. All in all, we expect over 3,000 FFA members next week. That's a big portion of the future of farming... all in one place!
