It Ain't Easy Being Green…
…but it sure is fun! Just ask Daniel and Melissa Fagerstrom, the gardeners responsible for the planning, planting, nurturing and harvesting of the grooviest new addition to Fair Oaks Farms: The Green Gate Garden. Daniel and Melissa lovingly cultivate several plots of land that neighbor our world famous
Birthing Barn, and have opened up the gardens for you to you enjoy as well! Have a walk around the garden, peek into one of the greenhouses, even lend a hand and pick a few fresh veggies while you're here. A seasonal selection of produce is always available for purchase inside the shop, and organic salads from the garden are made daily and sold at the
Café - but you have to act fast - the creative assortments of exotic lettuces and unique raw vegetables sell out quickly!
The Green Gate Garden is on the move, as well: Not only are restaurants in Chicago, including Art Smith's
Table Fifty-Two, planning their special weekly menus with these special locally grown vegetables, but our very own Little Red Smokehouse is always busy turning Daniel and Melissa's bounty of fruits and vegetables into one-of-a-kind sauces, marinades and relishes. And as if that weren't enough, you can find our Green Gate Garden produce at several local farmers markets as well.
